NEW YORK \u2014 A Framework Agreement on \nCooperation has been signed between the Republic of Armenia and the \nState of California in New York in the presence of Prime Minister Nikol \nPashinyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement was signed by Armenia\u2019s Foreign Minister, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and California Governor Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present\n at the signing ceremony was California State Senator Anthony \nPortantino, who represents the largest ethnic Armenian Diaspora within \nthe California State Legislature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the agreement, \nArmenia and California will develop comprehensive cooperation in all \nareas; specifically, for the purposes of fostering economic cooperation \nand development, facilitating joint research and development, enhancing \nbusiness relationships and educational opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following \nthe signing of the agreement, a meeting was held between Prime Minister \nPashinyan and Governor Newsom. Both agreed that the signing of the \nFramework Agreement would promote deepening of cooperation and \ndevelopment of Armenia-California relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister \nnoted that California is one of the centers of the Armenian-American \ncommunity, as well as the most innovative US economy and the epicenter \nof state of the art technology. The Prime Minister added that Armenia is\n interested in further strengthening ties with one of the most populous \nstates in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pashinyan touched upon the velvet revolution and\n the democratic processes in Armenia, which he credited for laying the \nfoundation for reforms and radical changes in different spheres. \nAccording to the Prime Minister, \u201cArmenia is currently on the path of \neconomic revolution. There is a steady dynamic growth of the economy, \npractical steps taken by the government to fight corruption, eliminate \nmonopolies and create a favorable business environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor \nNewsom welcomed the Armenian Prime Minister\u2019s visit to the US, noting \nthat the Armenians of California continue to \u201cplay a major role in the \ndevelopment of the state and the strengthening of Armenian-American \nties.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Issues discussed between the two leaders included the \ndeepening of the Armenia-California trade-economic cooperation, \nintensification of contacts between business circles and expansion of \nties. An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral discussions on \ntaking practical steps. Nikol Pashinyan and Gavin Newsom also spoke \nabout cooperation in the field of forest fire prevention and \nsuppression, agreeing to the exchange of experience and staff training \nmore meaningful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invited the \nCalifornia Governor to visit Armenia. Newsom thanked Pashinyan for the \ninvitation and promised to consider visiting Armenia at the right time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor\n Newsom was in New York to partake in Climate Week NYC, while Prime \nMinister Pashinyan, fresh from his visit to California, was there to \nattend the opening of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
